Driving up from Anogia towards Psiloritis mountain, (asphalt paved road), the visitor can admire the mitata, (sheep sheds) of unique architecture- stone built huts, to enjoy the snowy atmospere in the winter and the unique plateau of Nida, with the nearby Idean cave, birth place of Zeus. In Zoniana village one can visit the amazing cave Sfedoni, with its stalactites and the waxed images museum. In a shorter drive from the resort there are the most interesting Byzantine monasteries of Halepa and Vossakos. The food! Outstanding! There are several traditional tavernas with all the various tastes of the Cretan cuisine.
